GINLAB

Learn how gin is made in our unique GinLab,
the first and only one of its kind in Canada!
Immerse yourselve in this innovative and fun
team building experience for work colleagues
or a group of friends. Our head distillers will
guide you through the process while you
learn to distill on our specially designed mini
 copper column stills.
Each class can accommodate 6 – 12 people. A minimum of 6 people is required to run this lab. Labs are held the second Saturday of each month from 1pm – 4pm. Private groups can request alternate dates depending on availability at the distillery.

ARRIVE AT THE DISTILLERY:

On the day of your visit to The GinLab, please arrive 10 minutes before your session starts. Winter shoes/boots are not permitted past the vestibule. Please bring a change of shoes
according to the season and weather conditions.

MEET & GREET:

Once all the guests have arrived, you will be greeted by our head distiller and GinLab instructor. Your hosts will explain the format of the next few hours and introduce you to the distillery and its origins.

THE STILL ROOM:

After a tour and introduction to our beautiful stills, you will be divided into groups of 3 or 4 and given an orientation on the custom-built mini copper column stills that were design for our exclusive GinLab experience. Your “Ginstructor” will explain the processes involved in creating gin.

CRAFT YOUR OWN GIN:

Each group will be given an explanation of the botanicals that are needed to distill a specific gin expression. While this is happening, the three mini stills are warming up, the pots filled with neutral spirit base. Our team assists you in loading the botanicals into the gin baskets to create the recipe. Participants learn how to make their ‘cuts’ and why it is important to separate the heads, hearts and tails in the distillation process.

TIME FOR SOCIALIZING AND A COCKTAIL:

As the hearts are being collected and supervised by our head distiller, the group proceeds to the tasting room to socialize, sample some of 1769 Distillery’s spirits and enjoy a gin & tonic.

A FINAL WORD ON GIN APPRECIATION:

Each participant will proof down their gin, then will be guided on a tasting of the flavour profile that was created while learning about the best mixer pairing.
A special gift from the distillery will be provided to each of the participants!
